What is the difference between a Psychologist and a Provisional Psychologist?

In Australia, Psychologists are required to go through a very competitive post graduate pathway in order to obtain registration under AHPRA. Provisional Psychologists are registered with our governing body in a provisional status during this pathway.

This means they are qualified to practice under the supervision of a Board Approved Supervisor, but will not be able to obtain a Medicare number until they have completed their registration. Therefore sessions are not able to be subsidised with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. This does not affect private health funds or NDIS clientele. Please reach out to us if you would like further clarification, we are happy to help.

Are Mental Health Care Plan sessions bulk billed with a referral?

Our services are not bulk billed (or ‘free’) even with a referal, however we do have options to utilise Medicare rebates, NDIS, Private Health Funds and Workcover. We also have payment plans we can organise if you are in financial hardship. Please contact us to discuss your individual circumstances.

Do I need a referral to see one of your psychologists?

If you are planning on seeing us privately, (including those with private healthcare) you do not need a referral. However if you are planning on utilising Medicare, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP or specialist such as a Paediatrician. Please reach out to our reception team if you need to discuss your individual circumstances further.

Do you do home visits?

Yes, we do home visits at certain times of the day for eligible clients. We also can offer school visits with the permission of the school. Please reach out to our reception team to discuss your individual circumstances.

I’m not keen on taking my child out of school, do you have alternative appointment times/options?

Yes. With all the disruptions school kids currently face with various appointments, we aim to keep kids in school wherever we can. We offer after school sessions along with Saturday appointments at Glenmore Park. We also can offer telehealth or sessions at the school to help cut down time out of class usually taken up with travel.
